As a naturopathic doctor ​​I like to get to know my patients and partner with them to help achieve their individual healthcare goals.  Using a combination of Eastern and Western medicines, I work with individuals either as their primary health provider or in concert with their primary health provider as a specialist. Some of my areas of focus are: cardiovascular inflammation, diabetes, thyroid and adrenal conditions, detoxification, fasting, pain relief, family practice, allergies, insomnia, fertility, menstrual problems, menopause, anxiety / depression and digestive problems like IBD, IBS, and reflux.

Background:

​

I started my higher education as a National Merit Scholar at the Georgia Institute of Technology studying Aerospace Engineering.  While I did well in calculus, chemistry and physics, it was during my psychology classes that I was inspired to change majors and pursue the biological sciences.  I obtained my undergraduate degree as a Bachelor of Science in Applied Biology (Molecular Biology / Genetics).   I spent the next thirteen years performing research and development in the biotechnology industry, focusing on the purification and analysis of proteins as a Protein Biochemist.  I had the good fortune to work with many creative and intelligent researchers on a number of interesting projects.   I enjoyed contributing to projects like bringing forth diagnostics for the Hepatitis C virus.  However, after seeing many instances of natural therapeutics being ignored by companies due to financial reasons (hard to patent them), I returned to graduate school to study natural medicine and work .

At Bastyr University I was one of a select few students allowed to study both the Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine  masters programs at the same time as the Naturopathic Medicine Doctoral program.  During my education I had the opportunity to train in specialty clinics in chronic fatigue, HIV, cancer, ADHD, stroke rehabilitation, and community medicine at respected institutions like Harborview Hospital and Highline Medical Center.  Since then I have completed many continuing education programs including fertility, medical fasting, and trigger point injection therapy,
